The industry

The Swiss film industry is on a growth trajectory and has a total annual turnover of between 700 and 800 million Swiss francs - with an upward trend, as series projects for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sky and similar streaming providers are being co-produced in Switzerland from 2024. Moving images from Switzerland are therefore increasingly entering the international arena.

The industry therefore offers a promising and innovative job market in a creative economic environment. The content produced is extremely diverse: feature films or series and films for television (fiction and documentaries), advertising and commissioned films or music videos, animations or other visual content for games, art installations or digital platforms of all kinds.

Professionals in the film industry usually work freelance on a weekly or daily basis for a specific project duration. The locations and the composition of the crew change from project to project, but not the tasks and professions.

The working conditions and salary structure have been negotiated by the employee and employer associations and form the basis of the corresponding contractual agreements.

You can find more information ssfv.ch/de/arbeiten-im-film/allgemeine-anstellungsbedingungen-aab from the employee syndicat SSFV

Advantages of the film industry:

  • Flexible distribution of work throughout the year
  • High level of identification with the end product
  • Strong “we-feeling” in a project-related working environment
  • Variety of projects, colleagues and work locations
